A decrease in the form of the stool or an increase in the frequency of bowel moments is called diarrhea. Diarrhea is distinguished with four conditions, although these conditions accompany diarrhea and diarrhea often has different causes and different treatments.
These four conditions are; first, fecal incontinence, which means the inability to control or delay bowel movements until the appropriate time. Second, moments of bowel immediately just after having a meal. Third, the sudden urge to go to the toilet and if not immediately available, there could be incontinence of stool. Fourth, the strange sensation of the other bowel moments soon after a bowel moment and finding it difficult in passing stool the other time.
Causes
Diarrhea can be caused due to several reasons, conditions, and circumstances. Main causes of it can be; if the person consumes some food which he is allergic to, some viral infection can be the main reason, has some intestinal disease, consumption of contaminated water, due to the adverse reaction of medication, if one had the gallbladder or stomach surgery if some bacteria enters into the body that causes the severe condition, or the food intolerance.
Moreover, childhood diarrhea is common these days which is also called rotavirus. irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease are some serious symptoms of it that are called chronic diarrhea. The intestinal disease is the frequent and severe diarrhea that is also called functional bowel disorder.
Some other causes can be alcohol abuse, diabetes, cancer, different allergies to food or eating too much food.
Symptoms
Diarrhea is the bowel moments of watery stools but can be accomplished by following symptoms; abdominal cramps, thirst, fever, bloating, stomach pain. Some other severe types of symptoms can be dehydration, pus or blood in the stools, continuous vomiting. It is a chronic disease that may also indicate a highly serious illness.
Treatment
Rehydration
Mild cases of acute diarrhea can be resolved without treatment. All causes of it can be distinguished by the symptom of dehydration: Rehydration is the key to all types of diarrhea. Fluids must be replaced by simply consuming more fluids. Children and older people are vulnerable to dehydration. Oral rehydration refers to consume water that should be containing salt or glucose so that it can be absorbed by the small intestine to replace the water. ORS safety is the best and effective treatment that has treated over 90 percent of non-severe diarrhea cases.
Diet
Take liquid like fruit juices or other without adding sugar into it. drink water but do not during meals or after it. Consume water after every loose stool, take at least one cup of liquid. Take potassium-rich foods and liquids like fruit juices, bananas, potatoes without skin, food containing high sodium.
Antibiotics
Antibiotics usage is only to treat diarrhea that is caused by bacteria infection. Medication does cause it but medicines can be switched to another possible drug. Any medicine must be taken after consulting a doctor.
