Examining a specific medical problem by using values, logics and, facts to take action for solving a specific issue is called medical ethics. It deals with the doctor-patient relationship. The doctor may face many perplexed conflicts to practice but resisting that situation for both doctor and patient, comes in medical ethics.
The very first factor that medical ethics contains is the relationship between doctor and patient. A doctor-patient relationship or a paramedic staff and patient relationship are strengthened by the practice of medical ethics. A good relationship can help create better communication between a patient and the doctor which may lead to better healthcare decisions. Both of their relationships are based on trust. Trust gives rise to the doctor’s responsibilities in treating the patient and patients getting comfortable in sharing their issues with the doctor.
Ethics also include that when a physician provides urgent care and treats according to the will of the patient with patience and when physician treat humbly and appropriately even when the patient is rude according to the rules and guidelines that are provided to the physician. When a physician does not mind listening to the patients’ personal stories and give him enough time to say whatever he has on his mind.
Disrespectful or derogatory language or conduct on the part of either physicians or patients can undermine trust and compromise the integrity of the patient-physician relationship. It can make members of targeted groups reluctant to seek care, and create an environment that strains relationships among patients, physicians, and the health care team.
Trust between patients and doctors can only be built if there is mutual respect. That is why their interaction needs respectful language, psychological understanding and the core understanding of the issue. The main responsibility comes from the physician. He needs to treat the patient with respect and compassion.
The best relationship between a patient and physician builds when the doctor gives respect and contributes by courtesy and dignity. Patients, when asks of alternative medicines or ask for other recommendations, doctor deals patiently and gives answers to all questions. Answering to the patient’s phone call and listening to patients’ health status occasionally also gives satisfaction to the patient.
Respecting the patients’ privacy is another important aspect. Obtaining medical results’ summaries and copies or advising of prevention is also an ethic.
Success in the medical profession requires honesty. Ethics also includes conducting the postmortem of a dead body carefully and honestly. Many doctors prefer to take off some organs of the body during postmortem that is an ill-mannered and immoral act.
The fee of doctors these days is too high that common man especially a poor cannot afford. Poor people go to them for treatment as they cannot afford the fees of the qualified doctors. Reducing the fee or providing the offer of free operation to the poor patient is the ultimate compassion. A physician can help in the reduction of the fee that helps the patient.
