According to the Punjab Budget 2020 document, among ten new infrastructure projects, the construction of five new dams will be started in the next 3 to 5 months.
Along with the construction of 5 new dams in different parts of Punjab, construction of 100 beds hospital, upgradation of 2 hospitals, construction of 3 new universities are the part of 10 mega projects for the Rawalpindi district in the forthcoming Punjab budget.
The construction of these five dams will be started in 3 to 5 months. The total cost of all these megaprojects is Rs. 12 billion and 70 crores.
In contact, Federal Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Shiekh Rashid, and the provincial minister were told about the project wise details. According to the details, Rs. 6 billion were allocated for Daducha Dam, Rs. 1 billion for Papain Dam, Chak Beli Khan, Rs. 75 crores for Mujahid Dam, Chontra, Rs.75 crores for Mohata Dam, Rs. 5 billion for bringing water from Chahan Dam have been reserved. Rs. 50 crores have been reserved for a 100 bed hospital on Chakri Joorian Road, Rs. 50 crores for the upgradation hospitals of Murree and Kahuta, Rs.30 crores for Information Technology University in Punjab house. Kohsar University in Murree and Potohar University in Gujar Khan will be constructed.
The Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Usman Buzdar took personal interest and included these projects in the budget 2020, said Punjab media spokesperson. Sadaqat Abbasi, the MNA of PTI told that approval for the construction of Kohsar University has been given. The upgradation of Darul Aman in Khairpur has also been included in the budget, the cost of which is Rs. 10 crore. Moreover, the supply of water from Ghazi Brotha Dam and Lai Express Way, etc. are the projects which will be included in the next budget.
