The district administration has ordered to impose smart lockdown in 32 areas of Peshawar amid rising covid cases, meanwhile 11 residential areas have been banned in Islamabad along with all gatherings, including outdoor marriages.
Smart lockdown has been imposed in Peshawar in sectors D-II, D-IV, D-V and E-III of Phase-I; Sector C-III of Phase-V; sector-H-II, P-II of Phase-IV in Hayatabad and Zaryab Colony bound by Afghan Colony Road; Faqirabad Road; and Saeedabad bound by Saddar Road, Shami Road and Kabul Road; Mushtaqabad bound by Nauthia Road, Shafiq General Store Road and Chaman Zar Colony Road; Lalazar area bound by Wazir Dand Canal, Lalazar Road, Industrial Estate Road and Marjan Gathering Road; Street No.9 of Gulbahar No.2; and Faisal Colony bound by Dalazak Road, Faisal Colony Road and Gharibabad Road.
As per the issued notification by the district magistrate Islamabad, indoor and outdoor events, including weddings, festivals, parties, sports tournaments, social and cultural events, and religious gatherings would be banned from April 1.

Four sub-sectors G-6/2, G-10/4, F-11/1, I-8/4 and I-10/2 were de-sealed, however, these areas will be regulated and in case SOPs are violated, strict legal action will be taken. The 11 residential areas sealed on March 29 are: G-10/2, G-10/3, G-11/2, G-11/1, G-9/2, I-8/3, DHA-II, Soan Garden, PWD, Bhara Kahu and Bani Gala. Residents of these areas are yet to be informed.
Taking about the ban in capital, Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat said, “We have banned all kinds of activities. A number of hotspots have been identified in the city and that is why areas have been sealed. We have been trying to reduce positivity by up to 6pc by Ramazan,” he added by saying that there is a complete ban on political gatherings and private school association will not be allowed to hold a long march.
