Report by Strategy Analytics revealed that the South Korean smartphone maker Samsung has beaten Apple and once again claimed to have the top position in global smartphone sales in the month of February.

Currently, Samsung is the biggest smartphone maker in the world. In the past month, Samsung saw a flow in sales that made it reclaim its position. According to the report, the company successfully managed to ship 24 million units of its smartphones in February 2021 and claimed 23.1 percent of the market share.

Also, Apple has managed to sell 23 million units, making for a 22.2 percent market share. Whereas, in In Q4 2020, American multinational technology company dominated the market due to massive iPhone 12 sales. The ongoing popularity of the iPhone 12 has led some analysts to foretell that its increasing sales will end up reaching the level of the iPhone 6, which came out in 2014.

“As fierce competition continues between Samsung Electronics and Apple’s flagship models, Samsung has been striving to prop up its sagging market share by running aggressive promotions even for its budget models, including the A series,” said a source in the industry.

Moreover, Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has claimed the third position with a market share of 11.5 percent, while Vivo and OPPO with 10.6 percent and 8.5 percent market share. All these mentioned smartphone brands have nearly none-to-limited presence in the United States.

Samsung had 15.6 percent of market share in January whereas, Apple stood at 25.4 percent as compared to last year. Samsung saw a 26 percent increase in shipments. The sales of the company were most likely lacked by the launch of the Galaxy S21 series in January. One more important factor is the decline in Huawei’s share. The Chinese company always gave Samsung a tough time before the US authorizations were imposed.
