Pakistan has announced new restrictions all over the country that includes a complete lockdown on tourism, transport, restaurants, hotels, or any public place during Eid holidays.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Interior announced fresh restrictions across the country. The decision was taken during the meeting of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). Moreover, the Ministry announced in the press release that the NCOC had decided to ban tourism from May 8-16. “Closure of tourist resorts, public parks and hotels in / around tourist spots to remain closed,” read the press release.
The NCOC further announced the ban on inter-provincial and inter-city transport will also remain closed during the Eidul Fitr holidays however, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan will be allowed to travel back to their areas during the holidays. The interior ministry also said all tourist resorts, public parks, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and transport will also remain closed for the public.
“Travel nodes leading to tourist spots [will also remain] closed; focus on [the areas of] Murree, Galiyat, Swat-Kalam, Sea View/beaches and the Northern Areas [will remain],” stated the press release.
The press release said the NCOC had decided that a continuous supply of electricity during Eid will be provided to whole of Pakistan.
However, the SAPM on Health Dr Faisal Sultan once again has warned the country that a lockdown could be imposed in different cities if the coronavirus situation does not improve.
PM has also urged the people to wear masks and observe social distancing. He also appealed to the public to observe Eid with simplicity this year amid third coronavirus wave, killing many people daily.

So far, Pakistan recorded 810,231, the total number of positive corona cases and reported over 5,292 new infections in the last 24 hours.
