He tweeted, “Second successive day of more than 1 lakh vaccinations. Encouraging to see pace of registration also picking up. Vaccination of those between 40 and 49 years age will be starting from next Monday the 3rd of May.”
Moreover, a day ago, the NCOC chief had said that Pakistan crossed the 100,000 Covid-19 vaccination mark in a single day, in a first since the inoculation drive began in the country. Meanwhile, the single-day vaccination tally had yesterday taken the total number of country’s vaccinations to over 2.1 million.
Moreover, Pakistan started its Covid-19 vaccinations in February after the arrival of vaccine doses that China gifted, with the forefront health workers and elderly people given the priority for inoculation.
According to Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Faisal Sultan, other than vaccine doses gifted by China, Pakistan has purchased 3 million vaccine doses from several companies, whereas orders for another 30 million doses have already been placed to speed up the vaccination process in the country.
Pakistan has been struggling to control the deadly third wave of COVID-19 and the government has been working hard and making all-out efforts to ensure the standard operating procedures to be followed by the public.
The country has recently taken fresh measures besides restrictions already in place including closing schools in cities with more than 5 percent coronavirus positivity rate, banning indoor and outdoor dining, and reducing market opening and office hours.
