Islamabad admin aiming to administer 25,000 vaccine doses daily

The health authorities are targeting to administer 25,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine on daily basis, 420,000 people have already been inoculated in Islamabad.

According to the official, more than 4 lac people have been partially or completely vaccinated in the federal capital and now 25,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccines are targeted to be administered.

Moreover, Islamabad has reported 74 more Covid cases with the good news of positivity rate falling to 1.5 percent. On the other hand, Rawalpindi district has observed two patients who died of the virus and another 28 getting infected. Also, 55 patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovering.

“As many as 420,000 people have been vaccinated. There can be up to 1.2 million people who are still not vaccinated in the city and we initially want to vaccinate 80 percent of them. The positivity of cases has dropped to 1.5 percent which shows that we are on the right track,” he said by adding that a large number of people could be reluctant to get vaccinated due to some reasons so a strategy has been prepared to immunize them.

District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Zaeem Zia, while talking to media said, the Islamabad capital administration was focusing on administering high doses of vaccine so that herd immunity could be achieved at the earliest.

“We have been involving members of the National Assembly from Islamabad including Asad Umar, Raja Khurram Nawaz and Ali Awan. Besides, religious scholars are also being contacted to convince masses that they should be vaccinated at the earliest,” he said.

Vaccination center to be established at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce

The Islamabad District Health Office is going to set up a Covid-19 vaccination center in collaboration with the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). 

The DHO had also tweeted that in addition to setting up over 25 vaccination centers, efforts were being made to organize camps in universities, malls, offices to vaccinate as many people as possible. He also said that the target was to inoculate around 25,000 people daily.
