US Ambassador of Pakistan Paul Jones said in a letter to PML-N President that the United States is funding Pakistan an amount of USD 15 million in its joint efforts to fight coronavirus and the economic impacts on the country and that the US will be actively participating with Pakistani authorities on additional contribution to meet urgent needs.
Further, he said that US President Trump and PM of Pakistan Mr. Imran khan have discussed a coordinated response to coronavirus. The United States is actively working together on additional contributions to moderate the economic fallout, expanding health partnership to stop the spread of the virus. Both countries are taking new steps together to protect the most vulnerable.
Moreover, he said that the US was contributing USD 5 million to support Pakistan’s Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program that would be beneficial and will provide almost 70,000 deserving families the extra support to essential needs and buy food. Among other additional contributions, he told from the US is 336 tones of ready to use therapeutic food for children diagnosed with acute malnutrition equipment for 50 health facilities in rural areas were delivered. All of the above mentioned contributions was done in collaboration with UNICEF and the Government of Pakistan.
