Jawad Akram the Gilgit Home Secretary said that they have no issue in reopening of Pak-China border if the government of China is ready to open their side of the border.
The government of China was not ready to open the Pak-China border in fear of Coronavirus spread. While talking to the GB Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Jawad showed his readiness to open the border and that they are waiting for the decision of the government of China for opening the border. However, China seemed differed to agree to the opening of the border.
Like the Pak-Afghan Torkham border and Pak-Iran Taftan border, the GBCCI delegation made a request to the provincial as well as the federal government for taking steps to make Pak-China border open for trade purposes. He further added that Pakistan is facing a crisis due to the closing of this border.
The major crisis Pakistanis are facing is the halting of economic activities and its impact on the employment of many people amid lockdown due to the closure of businesses and markets. In the end, the delegation said that they are insisting to the Home Secretary to take steps that mitigate the financial issues, also they asked banks to provide loans to businessmen on concessional conditions so that all businessmen can restart their businesses.
