Pakistan reported more than 100 COVID related deaths for the first time since May 21st during the last 24 hours, a marker of a continuing upward trend during the fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
In the previous 24 hours, 102 people in Pakistan have died as a result of the coronavirus. This is the first time the country has documented more than 100 deaths since May 20, when the same number of people died.
As per the statistics of NCOC, as many as 102 people lost their lives to the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the countrywide death tally to 24,187.
Punjab reports highest 36 COVID related deaths in a day
Punjab has reported 36 Covid deaths in the last 24 hours which is the highest figure in a day during the 4th wave of coronavirus pandemic which accounts for 11,292 across the province.
The health secretary Sara Aslam had issued guidelines to control the disastrous effects of coronavirus last week. Despite this, the death rate is continually increasing in the province with each passing day. Punjab has reached 5.9 percent of positive covid cases which is the highest percent during the ongoing spike.
She updated that an alarming situation is found in Lahore where the infection rate has reached 8.6 percent while in Faisalabad it is found to be 6.9 percent. The worst condition of the 4th wave of Covid is found in Rawalpindi reaching up to 32.1 percent.
Ms. Aslam added that 1,141 new covid cases have been reported since 24 hours in Punjab making a total of 368,195. She further said that during the last 24 hours 36 COVID related deaths were reported, from which 14 were recorded from Lahore only.
Moreover, in Punjab, 6356085 tests were conducted by health teams in a day. From these tests, 533 cases were reported in Lahore. Meanwhile, 244 in Rawalpindi, 51 in Multan, 36 in Faisalabad, 25 in Gujranwala, 21 in Sargodha, 19 each in Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sialkot, 17 in Chiniot, and 13 in Muzaffargarh.
The health secretary informed that health departments have made an extensive plan for the vaccination of the participants of Majalis during Muharram.
