The people of Pakistan have initiated to take advantage of the fruits of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as the universities of Punjab and Wuhan are collectively growing high-yield hybrid rice varieties with the newest applied sciences like AI, large knowledge, 5G and distant sensing to spice up Pakistani rice exports.
It has been specified by the forum of International Cooperation and Development of Honglian Type Hybrid Rice in Luotian, Hubei province of China.
These varieties of rice are refined in Hubei province under the supervision of Wuhan University-University of the Punjab joint research center.

Moreover, Honglian hybrid rice is amongst the world’s three main kinds of cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) of rice that has been commercially used in hybrid rice seed production. They are made by Professor Zhu Yinguo of Wuhan University who is the member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
From this year, the total land of Honglian hybrid rice globally has exceeded about 30 million hectares.
China helping in development of Honglian hybrid rice in Pakistan
Now from 2019, the University of Punjab and the Wuhan University had recognized collaboration ties to together.
Besides this from two years back, Honglian hybrid rice achieved encouraging fruitages in six demonstrative plots in Gujranwala, Vehari, Lahore, Pakpattan in Punjab and Larkana and Shikarpur and in Sindh, essentially casing main rice planting regions in Pakistan.
In the last year 2020, three admirable diversities of Honglian hybrid were given to Pakistan’s regional trials for seed certification and registration. Their consequences showed that the yield of Honglian hybrid rice achieved distinctly higher than the checked varieties among the total 104 hybrid rice varieties.
Leader of Wuhan University-University of the Punjab Joint Research Centre for Honglian Type Hybrid Rice, Zhu Renshan, expressed China Economic Net that those diversities were delivered in May for testing and their results will be made obtainable in December.
Moreover with the efforts and struggles of these two universities, production of rice in Pakistan will be enhanced, consequently not only lifting Pakistan’s exports to other countries but also helping safeguard the two countries’ food security in the future.
