Nokia has recently expressed interest in supporting technology sector of Pakistan in developing a 5G ecosystem. In this regard, the Finnish multinational conglomerate hopes to work with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT).
This was revealed by senior MoITT officials, which has formally launched the consultation for the launch of 5G services in Pakistan.
Furthermore, officials from Huawei, Ericsson, and Nokia were also in attendance via webcam from their regional offices to discuss the future of 5G services in Pakistan. The topic of interoperable airwaves band with interoperable UE and 5G Telecom equipment, as well as the launch strategy for the relevant services, was also discussed.
“Nokia is dedicated to sharing its global experience in 5G technology setup, phased evolution, and use cases from various markets with the MoITT,” Nokia executives said.

Nokia to assist Pakistan in creating a 5G ecosystem
According to recent reports, MoITT has already started a consultation for the introduction of 5G services in Pakistan, and has analyzed approximately the seven bands for the adoption of 5G technology in the country.
The following bands are being evaluated for adoption of 5G services as low bands, mid bands and high bands: 700 MHz; 2.3 GHz; 2.6 GHz; 3.5 GHz; Millimeter-wave bands; C-Band (3.6-4.2) GHz; and Unlicensed Backhaul Frequency bands have been split into three categories, namely low, mid, and high bands (P2P and P2MP).
As of now, a five-member advisory committee known as the 5G Pakistan Plan Committee has been established, with the goal of developing a roadmap and then finalizing recommendations to ensure Pakistan is 5G ready.
