Circle In Charge Cybercrime wing of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Qari Jahanzaib revealed that university students are the most vulnerable to data breaches and cybercrimes.
Qazi Jahanzaib revealed that the majority of the 21,000 cybercrimes reported in 2021 were associated to university students being trapped, blackmailed, or tormented. He was speaking at a seminar on “Cyber Crime” organised by Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro (SABS) University of Art, Design and Heritages Jamshoro.
The seminar was held as part of the FIA’s educational awareness programme.

“Cybercrime happens when a crime is committed online using the internet or similar technology. “They are specialized crimes done against any computer equipment or network,” Qazi Jahanzaib explained to the gathering.
He warned internet users not to give out personal data in exchange for something for free to avoid cybercrimes.
“Do not open emails or messages that contain links. Never put your trust in anything you see on the internet for free. What you post on the internet will always be there. Therefore, before uploading any data or update, think ten times,” he added.
He also warned users not to share personal information because it is accessible to millions of people.
“Users should consider twice before sharing private photos and videos because anyone can libel them using any unauthorised photo software.”
“Users should not accept requests from strangers, avoid chatting with strangers, reduce fingerprint security on their phone, and do not allow others to access their laptop, mobile phone, or any Android device,” he said.
The FIA official also cautioned students against providing personal information with anyone, even family members. He recommended them to format all devices before selling them and to always choose a reputable technician to fix a phone or device.
