As per the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), during July-January (2021-22), the seafood exports were noted at $231.584 million as compared to the exports of $220.396 million in July-January (2020-21), recording a growth of around 5.08 percent.
An increase of 5.08 percent has been witnessed in the exports of fish and fish preparations in the first seven months of the present fiscal year when compared to the corresponding period of last year.
On annual basis, the fish exports raised by 24.28 percent by hiking up from $25.032 million during January 2021 to $31.111 million in January 2022.

Whereas on a monthly basis, the seafood exports decreased by 37.74 percent in January 2021 as compared to the exports of $49.971 million in December 2020, the PBS statistics unveiled.
However, the overall food group exports from the country in the first seven months of the current fiscal year showed an increase of 20.87 percent when compared to the exports of the corresponding period of last year.
Throughout this period, food supplies cost $2.952 billion were exported as against the exports of $2.444 billion in last year.
It is worth mentioning here that the country’s total merchandise exports rose by 24.48 percent in the first seven months of the current fiscal year.
The PBS reported that during July-January (2021-22), the merchandise exports were recorded at $17.744 billion as compared to the exports of $14.255 billion during July-January (2020-21).
Besides, trade data shared by the PBS revealed that rice exports from the country also increased by 11.16 percent to 2.179 million tonnes during the first seven months of the present financial year (7MFY22) from 2.179 million tonnes in the same period last year.
Consequently, the country produced $924.668 million by exporting around 2.138 million tonnes of rice other than Basmati in the first seven months of the present financial year as against the exports of 1.886 million tonnes worth $875.959million of the same period last year.
