Sindh government’s Spokesman, Karachi Administrator, and CM Advisor on Law Barrister Murtaza Wahab laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan at a cost of Rs 1.3 billion, reviewed the carpeting of Baba-e-Urdu Road in the South District and the proceeding development work of Rafiq Shahidi Road (Jinnah Hospital).
The two-lane road would be constructed between Abdullah Girls College and Qalandaria Chowk in the North Nazimabad area. The total length of the thoroughfare is 4.3 kilometres and its width would be 11 metres after the reconstruction.
During the inspection of the Road, the Administrator stated that sewerage and drainage works have already been accomplished before the construction of Baba e Urdu Road. He said that we will upgrade the transportation sector by constructing new roads in the city.
“We (KMC) provide sewerage and drainage system along every road.”
The ceremony was also attended by Member Sindh Assembly Sadia Javed, General Secretary Karamullah Waqasi, PPP South District President Khalil Hoot, Moazzam Qureshi, and others.
The Karachi Administrator said that over Rs 1.3 billion is assigned for the construction of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan.

Addressing the event Wahab said that the two-lane road will be built from Abdullah Girls college to Qalandari Chowk, a service road will be built along the main road as well, and a drainage system, sewerage, and streetlights will also be installed. He added that the road adjacent to Baba e Urdu will also be rebuilt. “We believe in serving the people and will continue to do so,” Barrister Wahab said.
The people of the city expressed their gratitude to Administrator Karachi on the occasion of carpeting Baba e Urdu Road.
Meanwhile, Mr. Wahab said that in the ongoing situation, responsible journalism was required and the journalist community had a heavy responsibility in this respect.
“Karachi is moving towards development and many projects are under construction at present,” the Barrister said while addressing a reception given by him in honor of the visiting journalists from across the country.
