Ministry of Housing Secretary Iftikhar Ali Shallwani issued orders to the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) regarding expediting efforts for restarting the construction of Kashmir apartments in sector G-13.
He issued these instructions during his visit to the site and was accompanied by FGEHA Director General Tariq Rashid.
Shallwani also visited Bhara Kahu Green Enclave I-II projects.
During the inspection of the site of the apartment building, he showed concern over work postponed by the contractor because of an increase in the prices of raw materials. The secretary also highlighted that price escalation must be verified by the Bureau of Statistics.
He stated that the quality and timely accomplishment of the project must be ensured in a bid to provide up-to-the-minute residential services to employees in the shortest possible time.

The project was initiated in April 2019. But, in January this year, the contractor stopped the construction work because of skyrocketing prices of construction material.
Meanwhile, the FGEHA stated on its website that the Kashmir apartments project has three towers, each having a basement and ground plus 21 floors. The design comprises 1,467 apartments, of which 714 consist of an area of 1,300 square feet each whereas 753 apartments will have to be of 11 square feet. The basements of the buildings will be earmarked for car parking and the ground floors for services, as per the authority.
The secretary was briefed that FGEHA has been working towards resolving the dispute regarding the price hike with the contractor after which work will be commenced again.
Moreover, Mr. Shallwani while visiting Green Enclave Housing Projects called for the timely completion of this housing scheme. According to an official of the housing ministry, nearly 40 percent of work on this scheme has been completed.
“Moreover, people’s trust and hopes in the department needs to be maintained through efficacy and following of deadlines,” the secretary remarked, adding that special attention should be given to gardening activities to make a more conducive environment in the Green Enclave.
