The government has decided to merge Kamyab Pakistan Program (KPP) with the Kamyab Jawan Program, an important initiative of the previous PTI regime, under one window.
This announcement was made by Federal Minster for Finance Miftah Ismail while chairing a meeting of the steering committee on KPP.
The Finance Minister informed the meeting that after the merger, KPP will be steered by the Prime Minister’s Office under the leadership of the Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs. The minister added that Finance Division will comprehensively support this program and intends at giving a greater amount of funds to this program for dealing with the current flood crisis in the country.
Sharing his opinion, Miftah Ismail said that Kamyab Pakistan Program conforms to the vision of the incumbent government and is advantageous for sustainable poverty reduction.
Moreover, another initiative “Ehsaas Program” launched by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 2018, was declared the global benchmark for the foundation of a developmental welfare state by the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSIIS) at Stanford University.
As per a working paper “Frameworks for a Developmental Welfare State: Lessons from Pakistan’s Ehsaas Program,” the initiative is a world-leading anti-poverty initiative to uplift the most vulnerable citizens.
The program envisages a universal and integrated response to tackle poverty in the country. A large number of services are provided under Ehsaas Program including targeted subsidies, unconditional cash transfers, and increased health and nutritional coverage.

Besides, the program also helps in bridging the gap between the state and its people, the paper concluded.
The meeting was also attended by Chairman Naya Pakistan Housing & Development Authority, Lt. Gen Anwar Ali Hyder, President Bank of Punjab, Zafar Masood, CEO National Rural Support Programme (NRSP), Dr. Rashid Bajwa, Chairman Akhuwat, Dr. Amjad Saqib, representative of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), representative of SAPM Youth Affairs, member National Telecommunications Corporation (NTC), member State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and other senior officials.
