Henry Cavill announced his exit from Netflix’s The Witcher not too long ago and it caused an uproar among the show’s fanbase. In response, one fan launched a petition calling for the show to bring Cavill back and instead fire the writers.

Launched on Change.org, the petition recently shot past 100,000 signatures a week after being posted. At the time of writing, there are 100,128 signatures and counting.

After three seasons as the lead role in the Netflix series “The Witcher,” Henry Cavill is putting down his swords and moving on.

“My trip as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and regrettably, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” the actor said in a statement confirming that he will be leaving the show.

He continued by saying that Liam Hemsworth ”will be taking up the role of the brave, blonde-haired character.

According to Cavill, “I transmit the torch with gratitude for the time spent embodying Geralt and excitement to witness Liam’s perspective on this most interesting and nuanced of men. ”

Hemsworth, who starred in “The Hunger Games,” expressed his excitement over the possibility to play Geralt of Rivia on his personal Instagram.

“I’m honored that he’s passing me the reins and allowed me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure,” he wrote. “Henry Cavill has been a wonderful Geralt.

The fantasy novel series by Andrzej Sapkowski, “The Witcher,” was adapted for television by Lauren Schmidt and debuted on Netflix in 2019. Positive reviews have been given to it, and a second season was already produced and released the previous year. Meanwhile, Season 3 will premiere next summer.

However, the next famous job on Cavill’s CV is where his attention is right now.

It has recently been reported that he will return to his role as Clark Kent/Superman in upcoming DC ventures.

Following Henry Cavill’s mid-credits appearance in this month’s blockbuster “Black Adam,” a crossover film starring Superman and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is on the table, as well as a suspected standalone sequel to 2013’s “Man of Steel.”

Just a few days before he wrote about “The Witcher,” Cavill posted on Instagram a picture of himself as Superman and a video discussing his comeback.
