Federal Minister for Climate Change Zartaj Gul Wazir had social media in stitches after she redefined the 19 in COVID-19.
Zartaj Gul Wazir had another gaffe and this time she demonstrated that she does not know the right definition of COVID-19. She misinterpreted the meaning of 19 in COVID-19.
“COVID-19 means that it has 19 points that can be applied in any country in any way,” she said on the state-run PTV current affairs show.
COVID-19 means coronavirus disease 2019. The ‘CO’ in the word stands for corona, ‘VI’ for the virus, ‘D’ for disease and 19 for the year 2019 when in December of last year it was officially recognized by WHO.
Pakistani politician Zartaj Gul wrongly described the definition of this COVID-19 and now this wrong definition is revolving around the whole social media platform.
When the disease has gripped the whole world and so far claimed more than 47,000 lives a federal minister not knowing the proper definition of Covid-19 was shocking for people.
She later took to Twitter to respond to the backlash tweeting, “Every day I appear on national TV and speak without a piece of paper (parchi),” she tweeted. “Wanted to say that the infections effect and intensity vary across different countries. Instead of crying on the situation over a minor mistake, maybe that will be better for them. I am not afraid of criticism, it strengthens me.”

The Zartaj Gul Covid-19 gaffe quickly turned into a meme and many people joined by posting similar absurd definitions of different terms and things.
