The Prime Minister’s Youth Program is set to breathe new life into the laptop scheme this year, according to a recent announcement made by Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs. In a press conference, Khawaja shared plans to distribute 100,000 laptops to young individuals across the nation.
Khawaja expressed disappointment over the termination of the laptop scheme by the previous administration, stressing the critical role of laptops in facilitating remote learning and work during the global COVID-19 pandemic. She also pointed out the previous laptop distribution, under the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz administration, had played a crucial part in maintaining continuity in the face of challenging circumstances.
As part of its strategy to stimulate a startup culture among the younger generation, the government has also launched the National Innovation Award. This award has been instituted to identify, acknowledge, and encourage innovative concepts and initiatives.
The SAPM emphasized the government’s firm commitment to endorsing healthy activities among the youth. She reported that nearly 54,000 children participated in a variety of sports activities in the past year. Hockey and volleyball trials were conducted across 25 and 28 regions respectively.

In addition, Khawaja announced the kick-off of the nationwide football trials registration process, providing a platform for young talent across Pakistan to demonstrate their skills in the sport.
These diverse initiatives collectively illustrate the government’s strategic focus on empowering the youth. By providing them with educational resources, spurring innovation, and endorsing a healthy, active lifestyle, the administration is laying the groundwork for a promising future.
