The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan has officially announced the sighting of the Dhul-Hijjah crescent moon, thereby confirming that Eid-ul-Adha, the Islamic Festival of Sacrifice, will be observed on Thursday, 29th June. The announcement was made following the committee’s meeting in Karachi, which was led by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.
Eid-ul-Adha, a major religious celebration for Muslims globally, honors the readiness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command. The story culminates in Allah replacing the son with a sheep, epitomizing the crucial themes of faith and surrender in Islam.
The celebration of Eid-ul-Adha is characterized by communal prayers, livestock sacrifice, and the sharing of meat with those less fortunate. The event sees Muslims congregating in mosques and open spaces to perform the Eid prayers. This is often followed by communal meals and social visits among families and friends.
