Thousands of education institutions across Pakistan reopens in three phases after remaining closed for more than six months due to Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the decision taken by the government, universities and schools and colleges from grade nine to onwards are reopening today and students in grade six to eight will return to school on September 23, while students in nursery to grade five will return to their classes on September 30.
Prime Minister Imran Khan called it the responsibility of the government to make each child is secure while going to school. He said the whole nation is responsible for every child going to school safely as educational institutes across the country open today after a six-month-long closure due to Covid-19.
All educational institutions opened today in a phase-wise manner. The Premier welcomed children to school and assured the people that the government has worked hard to ensure that school operations support the public health safety rules on the coronavirus pandemic.
The PM took to twitter and posted yesterday that Pakistan reopens education institutions from today, “Tomorrow we will welcome millions of children back to school. It is our priority & collective responsibility to ensure that every child can go to school safely to learn. We have worked to ensure that school operations are aligned with public health safety rules on #COVID19.”
Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood also said, “Higher education institutions and senior school classes will reopen on September 15, class six till eight will open again on September 23, and on September 30 primary classes will reopen.”
Moreover, the education minister has permitted the authority to take action in any educational institution which does not follow precautionary measures.
Almost all activities have resumed in the country but only salons, dine in restaurants, and gyms were closed which were opened last month and only educational institutions were left to be opened. The spread of coronavirus has been stopped to a large extent but violating SOPs can activate the second wave.
The minister clarified that restriction to follow SOPs applies to all the educational institutions of both public and private sectors besides vocational centers and religious seminaries, “which would enable millions of students to resume studies after a hiatus of around six months.”
