According to the Abu Dhabi government’s media office, Amazon has teamed with Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) to create a fulfilment centre by 2024 that will be developed in compliance with the company’s carbon-reduction objectives.
Thousands of jobs will be created, bolstering Abu Dhabi’s logistics sector and retail ecosystem, and the project will be in accordance with the UAE’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, according to the media office.
“Abu Dhabi has established itself as the region’s innovation centre and as a nexus for pioneering technology and impactful solutions,” said Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development.

“The addition of Amazon’s new Abu Dhabi fulfilment centre to the emirate’s ecosystem strengthens it even more by adding new features and infrastructure that assist other firms. ADIO will partner with and support innovation-driven enterprises to ensure their growth and success in Abu Dhabi as part of our commitment to providing possibilities for the private sector.”

Following its successful and ongoing work with Amazon Web Services to launch cloud data centres in the UAE, ADIO continues to collaborate with Amazon in Abu Dhabi to advance new and technological solutions.
