Capital Development Authority Set to Roll Out Key Urban Projects in the New Fiscal Year

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is preparing for a spate of significant infrastructure projects in the city for the fiscal year 2023-24, with a dedicated budget allocation of Rs. 20 billion. The planned initiatives include extensive road development and traffic improvement measures aimed at enhancing the city’s overall transport infrastructure.

This fiscal year’s major projects incorporate the creation of Eleventh Avenue, the Serena Chowk underpass, and the Shaheen Chowk Overpass. Other key developments include widening efforts for Lahtrar Road, Park Road, and Murree Road.

Currently, the CDA is overseeing development projects worth Rs. 100 billion in Islamabad. The authority’s Chairman, Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, anticipates the completion of these ongoing projects within the upcoming 2 to 3 months.

Further expanding on the upcoming plans, Mengal revealed that Eleventh Avenue is set to connect with Srinagar Highway and IJP Road. He also assured that the ongoing patchwork on Islamabad Expressway will be wrapped up shortly.

Mengal also unveiled plans to eliminate traffic signals from Margalla Road, in a bid to facilitate smoother vehicular movement.

Additionally, the construction of a dual carriageway over Shaheen Chowk was highlighted among the forthcoming projects for the next fiscal year. Mengal also confirmed that expansion works to add additional lanes on Park Road and Lahtrar Road are scheduled for FY 2023-24.
