China Power, a prominent Chinese enterprise, declared its intent earlier today to build an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility in Sindh, Pakistan.
The news emerged after a delegation from the company held discussions with Sindh’s Minister for Information and Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, in Karachi. Minister Memon responded positively to China Power’s proposition, promising the backing of the provincial government for all investors and industrialists venturing into this region.
This development follows the launch of Pakistan’s first intra-city bus manufacturing company in Karachi last year by another Chinese corporation. The establishment of this facility has made buses more affordable and has triggered an interest among several companies to set up automotive manufacturing units in Pakistan.

Following a meeting with the country manager of the bus manufacturing company, Minister Memon unveiled plans for a new manufacturing plant. Spanning 18 acres, the facility is projected to be operational within 20 months and is expected to produce 500 buses annually. Memon emphasized that the creation of a public transport manufacturing hub is a high priority for the government, given the direct benefits to the citizens of Pakistan.
Memon later shared on Twitter that his meeting with the Chinese bus manufacturing company had been productive, confirming their shared commitment to launch an intracity bus manufacturing facility in Karachi.
