Confirmed Covid-19 cases in Pakistan have exceeded 300,000 since the first case was reported in late February 2020. In the last 24 hours, 548 new cases have been reported that takes the total number of cases to 300,371.
According to the data updated by the country’s health ministry on Friday morning, the total number of cases in the country has surpassed 300k cases. The total fatalities reported nationwide are 6,370. The statistics say that Sindh province is the most affected region of the country with 131,404 cases followed by eastern Punjab province with 97,533 cases.
The northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province reported 36,823 coronavirus cases. A total of 15,832 cases have been recorded in the federal capital Islamabad, and 13,282 in southwestern Balochistan province. Overall, Pakistan has 5,795 active COVID-19 cases, while 288,206 infected people have recovered. Pakistan has conducted 29,534 coronavirus tests over the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry.
However, the government of Pakistan tackled the spread of corona very efficiently by imposing a strict lockdown in March and April, and then later it imposed a smart lockdown in hotspots, and then for the sake of safety, it imposed micro smart lockdown when all activities in the country resumed. The government applied highly effective strategies and policies for which many countries appreciating Pakistan and Imran khan for eradicating the virus resolutely. WHO also listed Pakistan among those 7 countries which eradicated the virus efficiently.
Moreover, the drop of cases is consistently seen throughout the country and so the government of Pakistan has lifted the lockdown from almost all sectors except a few as they are still identified hotspots. The government has now announced to open all educational institutions across the country and is expected to reopen in phases from Sept 15. The government is now asking to follow SOPs to avoid the second wave of the pandemic.
