ECC approves Rs 8.2 billion subsidy for Ramazan relief package

A total of Rs 8.28 billion Ramazan package has been approved by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet under which basic food commodities would be provided at sponsored rates at Utility Stores Corporation outlets.

ECC has accepted a summary scheduled by the Ministry of Industries and Production for Ramazan Relief Package 2022. After discussion, the ECC approved Ramzan Relief Package 2022 for 19 indispensable items to be sold at subsidized charges at USCs with a total subsidy of Rs 8280 million.

The government would offer primary food commodities like oil, sugar, flour, ghee, rice, pulses, dates, and others at sponsored rates in the month of Ramazan.

According to details, the government will provide Rs 4.050 billion subsidy on ghee, a subsidy of Rs 2.534 billion on flour, Rs 750 million on sugar, Rs 300 million subsidy on oil, Rs 30 million on dal channa, Rs 10 million on washed dal moong, Rs 30 million on white gram, Rs 50 million on baisen, Rs 20 million on dates, Rs 25 million on rice basmati and Rs 10 million on rice sella.

Moreover , 8.2 billion Ramazan relief package has been approved for the whole country rather than only 20 million households registered with Ehsaas Rashan Riyat programme.

ECC further approved Kamyab Overseas Programme (KOP) as a new element of the Kamyab Pakistan Programme. The new step has the intention of prospective low-income foreign workers with a permanent foreign job proposal, employment contract, and legal travel documents and registered with NSER to avail interest-free loans under KPP.

Moreover. The KPP offers Rs 300,000 amount of loan which can be reimbursed by easy installments starting after three months of departure. The loan will be given to 10,180 recipients with projected essential funds of Rs 3 billion for the 4th quarter of 2021-22.

The meeting was also attended by Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Azam Khan Swati, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam, Federal Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar, federal secretaries, and other senior officers.
