Imran Khan alleges growing fascism and attack on judiciary

Imran Khan judiciary facism

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has accused the coalition government of attempting to undermine the powers of the Supreme Court and create a clash between the judiciary and parliament. PTI Chief Imran Khan took to Twitter to criticize the government and pledged that the people of Pakistan would resist any such attempts. He further alleged that unknown individuals were targeting PTI workers and social media activists, suggesting that the country was heading towards fascism.

During a meeting with retired session judges, Khan expressed his confidence that the PTI would form the next government without relying on any external support. He emphasized that the announcement of general elections should be the only topic of any future dialogues.

PTI President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi also criticized the government’s attempt to limit the powers of the Chief Justice of Pakistan through constitutional amendments. He stated that any legislation created without consulting the opposition “has no status” and urged the judiciary to maintain its independence.

Senior PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry tweeted that the entire nation was standing behind the Supreme Court and would not allow it to be weakened. He encouraged the judiciary to trust the people to implement its decisions.

PTI’s central Punjab president, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, accused the opposition Pakistan Democratic Movement of violating human rights and abducting citizens. She stressed that an attack on the superior judiciary would be equivalent to an attack on Pakistan and affirmed the nation’s support for the judiciary.
