Reels, the Facebook answer to TikTok, is a new Instagram feature that allows users to create and share short-form videos on the Explore page and with followers. The application will officially launch in the United States in August after it was tested in different parts of the world and most recently in India.
India has recently banned TikTok along with other 58 Chinese applications in the country due to ongoing border tensions with China and Instagram instantly came up with its Reels feature to fill the void in the second most populated country of the world. TikTok alternative Reels gained some steam within days. The company already tested this feature in France, Brazil and Germany also and now it’s officially being tested in India.
What is Reels?
Reels is a feature added by Instagram within its app. Users can create a 15 seconds video and able to share it on their Instagram accounts. Reels feature can be found out at the end of the Instagram camera.
What does Instagram Reels offer?
In its 15 seconds video sharing feature you can add multiple filters, effects, and audio tracks in your videos. It’s up to you weather you want to add music from the music library or choose to add your audio.
Sparks AR is another feature in Reels that gives you have access to use AR filters and effects that are generated by Instagram and by many independent creators from around the world.
Align is another feature added in the Reels that line up objects from the earlier clip before recording the new one. For example, if you wanted to make a video of outfit changes with seamless transitions then the Align feature will help you in this matter.
Slow-mo and hyper lapses also included in the Reels function in order to slow down your video or speed up your videos.
At the moment Reels is offering these features as it is in the testing phase but Instagram will definitely bring more features after seeing an upward in its usage.
Where can you see Reels?
Those who have a public account can share the Reels with their followers and those who have strong followership can have a chance to grab a spot on the Instagram Explore tab. Through its strong query system, relevant Reels can be showed up if someone used a hashtag, play the same song, or use an effect.
In public and private account Reels will disappear after 24 hours.
