ISKP claims responsibility for suicide bomb attack in Sibi

Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) claimed responsibility for a suicide attack that took place on Tuesday in Sibi district of Balochistan in which six Pakistan soldiers were killed.

A suicide bomber hit on the way of President Arif Alvi’s motorcade in Sibi, snatching the lives of six security workers and leaving 22 others, as well as 19 law enforcers, injured on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, the country sees a second major suicide attack within a week, as the horrible assault inside a Peshawar mosque on Friday took 62 lives and injured 189 people.

As per the officers, the suicide bomber blasted himself near a government rest house on Jail Road after the motorcade of President Alvi and other VIPs had passed from the area on their return from the ceremony of the annual Sibi festival conducted at Sibi Stadium.

“It was a suicide attack. A man wearing an explosive-laden jacket detonated it close to the personnel who were winding up security arrangements after the departure of all VVIPs,” DIG Masroor Alam Kolachi of Sibi Range police told media persons.

The officer further said that six Frontier Constabulary (FC) workers lost their lives whereas 22 others, including some civilians, were wounded.

After the powerful bang, security forces with police and Levies staffs sealed the area and the bodies and the wounded were hurried to the district hospital and combined military hospital, Sibi.

Moreover, hospital official, Dr. Ghulam Sarwar Hashmi said, “We have received six bodies and over 22 injured at district hospital”. He mentioned the situation of at least six wounded as critical and revealed that they were airlifted to Quetta via a helicopter.

As a minimum, five FC personnel including Naik Abdul Waheed, Hawaldar Abdul Lateef, Sepoy Aftab, Sepoy Habibullah Sepoy, and Abdul Jalil grabbed martyrdom while another man continued unidentified.

Furthermore, it has been reported that from the 22 wounded, six of the seven FC workers were Sepoy Samiullah, Sepoy Munawar Hussain, Subaidar Saifullah, Sepoy Sadaqat Ali, Sepoy Nizakat Ali, and Sepoy Abdul Rahim. In addition, twelve police officials also got injuries. Among the injured, officers included Sub-inspector Barkat Ali, Sub-inspector Nasarullah, Sub-inspector Abdul Rasheed, and Assistant Sub-inspector Pehalwan.
