The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved development schemes costing Rs 30.602 billion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The projects were approved in a meeting of PDWP held in Peshawar which was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah. Establishing an education city in Barwand, South Waziristan is also approved.
Moreover, the meeting gave approval to 27 projects relating to higher education, industries, communication and works, health, Auqaf, social welfare, sports and tourism, home and public health engineering departments.
The approved schemes are construction of flood safety walls alongside Muqam nullah in Mardan, Kasho nullah, Chashma nullah, Kurram River, Speenatangi nullah, and Tochi River.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PDWP conference also accepted providing Financial Support to PPPs’ (Public-Private Partnerships), utility shifting, and resettlement for construction of Swat Expressway.
In addition, the meeting also approved setting up of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa University of Technology in Nowshera; building of Zamung Kor in Swat; hockey turf in Buner, Swabi and Malakand; Fata youth skills development; grant-in-aid for free schooling to students of tribal areas, rehabilitation of roads in Karak, Takht-i-Nusrati and Banda Daud Shah; capacity building and skill development of students of seminaries; and broadening and restoration of Chakia Junglan Sundar-Kalatian road in Mardan and Shahkail Pairan road in Mansehra.

Further approved schemes include construction of purpose-built building at Gajju Khan Medical College in Swabi; construction of central police office in Peshawar; and sanitation scheme for Gandhi-II union council, Qilla Mardhand, Harichand-II union council, Behram Dheri, Gandheri, Showdag, Hisara Nehri, and Abazai in Charsadda district.
Widening and rehabilitation of Sultankhel Darra roads, Karro Dara road, Chapper Dara road, Bandai Serai Arrimanzai road, Galkorr Karbadai through Shalgah road, and building of the bridge in Sadiqabad village of Dir Upper were also among the approved projects.
Besides, the meeting also approved schemes which include construction of a road from Gula Jan Kot to Naseebkhel in Tank; construction of Chupryal Bypass road in Swat; construction of Khwazakhela bypass in Swat; and construction of road from Arzikhel to Nazankhel in Tank.
The committee members also approved the construction of a road to Chalghoza Forest in South Waziristan, blacktopping of roads, and construction of several link roads in Wana sub-division South Waziristan.
