Opposition parties in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (KP) have decided to prevent dissolution of the assembly by taking all legal and constitutional means, including no-confidence motion against the Chief Minister.
Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan announced his party’s resignation, claiming that his party doesn’t want to be a part of this corrupt system while addressing Haqeeqi Azadi March in Rawalpindi on Saturday. “I would announce the date of resignation after consulting the Chief Ministers and the parliamentary party”, said Imran Khan in his address. After the announcement was made, K-P assembly’s opposition held an emergency meeting at the residence of the opposition leader in provincial assembly under the chairmanship of opposition leader Akram Khan Durrani and it was decided in the meeting that all possible measures will be taken to prevent dissolution of assembly.“ We will not allow dissolution of the assembly at any cost”, said Sardar Babak Khan.
Representatives of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) , Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) participated in the meeting. According to opposition leader, opposition Parties were consulted after Imran’s statement.
“I do not believe in what Imran Khan says, I still do not believe in his seriousness, we are democratic people and we will do politics within democratic means”, said the Opposition leader, Akram Khan Durrani.

He said that the current situation of economy and the province has been reviewed. “ The opposition could mull over bringing a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Mehmood Khan”, Awami National Party’s parliamentary leader Sardar Babak Khan said.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) is the contemporary ruling party in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (KP) province while they have a majority in Punjab coalition with Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi’s Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q).
