Pakistan allocates $150 million for Covid vaccine

Pakistan is keenly looking at the affairs related to the coronavirus vaccine and the government has reserved $150 million for the purchase of the Covid vaccine and it is likely that the vaccine will be available in the Country by the first quarter of next year.

It was declared by Dr. Faisal Sultan, the special assistant to the Prime Minister on health in Peshawar after the approval of a $150 million technical supplementary grant to book Covid-19 vaccine from international manufacturers by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) last week.

He appreciated the efforts of Fawad Chaudhry, the federal minister for science and technology for manufacturing ventilators, PPE and N95 masks locally.

Dr. Faisal Sultan said that the change in coronavirus is natural. However, it could not be said whether it has changed so far or not. In Pakistan, the ratio of positive results of coronavirus is around 7%.

According to some reliable sources, the Pakistan government has approached two pharmaceutical companies to pre-order the Covid vaccine after Prime Minister Imran Khan approved its proactive plan.

Dr. Nausheen Hamid while talking to a private TV channel said that payment will be soon made to these companies, the names of these companies have not so far been declared. At the moment, Pakistan has more than 398,024 confirmed cases of coronavirus since February this year. More than 8,025 people have died of this lethal disease so far.

People who are above 50 years and suffering from various diseases fall victim to coronavirus. This is also a fact the severity of the second wave of the corona is due to the reason that people of the country have badly given up on the precautionary measures.

According to senior government functionaries and medical experts, with the purchase of vaccines, the government plans to immunize 10 million people in the first phase and priority would be given to frontline workers and individuals over 65 years of age.
