Pakistan has made a significant oil and gas discovery in the Tal Block, located in Kohat District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Tal Block is considered one of the largest hydrocarbon producing blocks in the country with 55 percent as the success ratio of discovery.
“Well test has shown 3,240 barrels of condensate per day, 16.12 mmscf (million standard cubic feet) of gas per day, and 48 barrels of water per day,” POL announced.
Pakistan Oilfields Ltd. (POL) holds a 21 percent stake in the Tal Block while Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. (PPL) and Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd. (OGDCL) each own 28 percent.

While testing the well it poured gas and condensate from Lockhart and Hangu formation and the flow rate observed was 6,516 boepd (barrels of oil equivalent per day) (16.12 MMscf/d and 3,240 BPD, respectively), with flowing well-head pressure of 4,476 PSI at 32/64” choke. More testing is still in progress as the MOL group is seeing potential.
