Pakistan exported fish and fish preparations worth $362 million and meat and meat products worth $221 million in 8 months.
Around $30 billion have been targeted to be earned through exports during the current fiscal year by the government of Pakistan and so far, the pace of exports seems to be satisfactory. Other than the exports of industrial items, Pakistan successfully exported food items in good quantity.
The country exported foods items, worth $3.433 billion during the eight months of the current financial year as compared to exports of these items, worth $2.853 billion during the period from July to February in the previous fiscal year, showing a growth of 20.33 percent.
The data of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows that Pakistan exported fish and fish products worth $362.202 million during the period from July to February in the current fiscal year as compared to the amount of $339.848, earned through the export of these products during the same period, last year. It shows that there is a growth of 6.48 percent here.

Moreover, the data of PBS shows that meat and meat products worth $220.865 million have been exported during the period from July to February during the ongoing fiscal year. Here the growth comes to be 2.76 percent as during these months, last year, Pakistan had earned $214.935 million by exporting these products.
During February, the country exported 41,300 metric tons of fish and fish products, valuing $35.901 million as compared to 14,098 metric tons, worth $30.803 million during this month, last year. The exports of meat and meat products come to 6,650 metric tons, worth $28.908 million during the month of February as compared to the exports of these products worth $26.147 during this month, last year. The government has given many incentives to the agriculture sector in the budget for this fiscal year.
During the current season, the crop of potatoes has gone beyond the target and it is expected that through the export of this important food item, the country will earn heavy foreign exchange in this financial year. The farmers of mangoes and oranges are also hopeful that they would be in a position to achieve the target of export this year.
