Pakistan’s Textile group exports in July-April, 2021- 2022 hit a record high of $15.981 billion against $12.688 billion during the corresponding period of last year showing an increase of 25.96 percent, says the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
“Pakistani materials trade expanded by 26% during the initial 10 months of the ongoing monetary year and rose to $16 billion from $12.7 billion during a similar time of last year,” All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) said.
The PBS data revealed that the textile group exports grew by 7.01 percent on a month-on-month basis but remained at $1.739 billion in April 2022 as compared to $1.625 billion in March 2022. While, on a year-on-year basis, textile group exports saw 30.50 percent growth in April 2022, against $1.332 billion in April 2021.

Cotton yarn exports recorded an increase of 22.11 percent during July-April 2021-22 and remained at $1.006 billion when compared to $823.952 million during the corresponding period of last year. However, it showed a decrease of 4.95 percent in April 2022 and remained at $97.655 million as compared to $102.736 million during the same month a year ago.
From July-April (2021 to 22), the country’s overall exports totaled $26.247 billion as compared to $20.905 billion during the same period of last year recording a growth of 25.55 percent.
Meanwhile, in April 2022, the country’s exports were $2.897 billion when compared to $2.777 billion in March 2022 presenting an increase of 4.32 percent and by 30.61 percent against $2.218 billion in April 2021.
The leading commodities of exports during April 2022 included knitwear at Rs 90,096 million, readymade garments at Rs.64,669 million, bed wear at Rs 51,398 million, cotton cloth at Rs 38,763 million, rice at Rs 32,704 million, towels at Rs.19,974 million, cotton yarn at Rs.18,016 million, made-up items (excluding towels & bedwear) at Rs 15,277 million, rice basmati at Rs.15,198 million and surgical goods & medical instruments at Rs 8,067 million.
