Sirbaz Khan, the Pakistani mountaineer, is looking forward to getting another achievement to become the first Pakistani to summit nine out of 14 eight-thousanders of the world.
The 33-year-old Hunza-based mountaineer begun his summit push from the base camp on 27 September and touched Camp 2 in the afternoon. He wants to go further to 8,167 meters on Dhaulagiri if the weather conditions remain promising. Sirbaz will be entitled the first Pakistani to summit the Dhaulagiri and the first Pakistani to summit nine eight-thousands if he makes it in his mission.

Moreover, the climber intends to ascend Dhaulagiri without the use of supplementary oxygen, as he generally does not use it when summiting mountains.
“I have voluntarily chosen to lead and help along with the Sherpa brothers. As I have done so in the past, I’ll be climbing without supplementary oxygen,” Sirbaz Khan shared in an Instagram post prior to leaving the base camp.
He further stated, “It is not purely about getting in the record books anymore, it is about the pride of country”.
Moreover, he had summited Mount Everest earlier this year.
“14 days after raising the green flag at the summit of Mt Annapurna, I have arrived at Everest basecamp to raise the Pakistani flag on the top of the world. I feel good and ready to represent the Unsung and Underprivileged Pakistani Mountaineering community on the highest peak in the world. Mt Everest will be my 7th peak in mission summit 14. Insha’Allah,” the mountaineer said in a statement.
Besides this, Alpine Club of Pakistan secretary Karrar Haidri bestowed “heartiest congratulations” to the climber on behalf of the club. “This is Sirbaz Khan’s 7×8000m mountain. Sirbaz has summited 2×8000m peaks in the last 26 days,” he said in a statement
Moreover, veteran Pakistani mountaineer Nazir Sabir praised the climber. “Congratulations to Sirbaz Khan for his outstanding achievement. Wish him more success from here,” he said.
