Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project Peshawar has been recognized as ‘Honorable Mention’ for Sustainable Transport Award 2022 on 10th February 2022 in a ceremony which took place in Washington and attended by BRT virtually.
Each year, ITDP and the Sustainable Transport Award Committee select a city that has implemented innovative sustainable transportation projects in the preceding year.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Farrukh Habib, confirmed the addition of Peshawar Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) among the world’s top three transportation services as an incredible achievement.
As per the tweet from the minister, Peshawar has been chosen for the 2022 Sustainable Transport Award for its advanced rapid bus service. As stated by Farrukh Habib, the occasion of the award will be conducted on February 9 in Washington, DC.

After its nomination for the 2022 Sustainable Transport Award occasion, Peshawar’s Bus Rapid Project (BRT) has also received global approval for providing people with a high-tech, environmentally welcoming transportation system.
While talking to the correspondent, TransPeshawar spokesperson Umair Khan stated that the BRT is offering facilities to more than 250,000 commuters on a daily basis.
“Peshawar BRT has been internationally recognized as ‘honorable mention’ for Sustainable Transport Award-2022 for being an innovative sustainable transport project for facilitating mobility and reducing environmental pollution,” he added.

Moreover, Umair continued that Peshawar BRT had been selected out of 31 cities, which comprised cities from the US, India, Russia, South Korea, Canada, etc.
