The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to induct Airbus A-330 and Boeing-787 aircraft in its fleet within the first quarter of 2023 as part of its improvement policy.
According to the Minister for Aviation Khuwaja Saad Rafique, new aircraft are being added to the PIA fleet in order to improve its performance.
Addressing the Senate on Thursday, the minister said the government is not considering any proposal to sell out the assets of the national flag carrier.
Saad Rafique mentioned that the government is trying its best to operationalize this year about three hundred rooms of Hotel Roosevelt. He continued, “We want to enter into a joint venture for the complete revival of this hotel which will help bring revenue to the country.”
Moreover, the Minister for Railways and Aviation told the Senate members that one hundred and thirty-four kilometers of rail track of the Sibi-Harnai-Khost section had been successfully completed. He cited we have to develop a bridge in this section. But, the operationalization of this segment is connected with the security situation.
Responding to a question during question hour, Minister of State for Law Shahadat Awan assured the house that the incumbent government has initiated strict action against illegal housing societies.

He added those who deceived the people will not be spared and they will be imprisoned with strict punishments. Talking about the illegal housing societies, he said cases have been forwarded to the NAB and FIA, continuing, a campaign has also been launched to create awareness in the masses about these illegal housing societies.
In addition, the Minister of State stated that Pakistanis enjoy visa-free access to 46 countries. He added efforts are in progress to further improve the image of Pakistan in the world.
Shahadat Awan further said that the Korang Bridge project on Islamabad Expressway will be finalized by the end of this year.
The contract for the project was awarded in September 2020; however, due to price escalation in construction material, the contractor slowed down work on the project. The minister said that the contract has now been assigned to Frontier Works Organization.
