Prime Minister Imran Khan will be launching Rs 581 billion South Punjab development package for the upgradation of ruined infrastructure, developing the power supply system, reinforcing universities, and giving access to information technology.
As per the details, almost 122 projects have been selected, that include schemes which were approved in recent time but unfortunately, could not get receive enough financing and launching of new projects with public besides private sector investment.
PM is profound to launch the schemes ahead of a no-confidence drive against him. The Planning Minister Asad Umar has written to the Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar to accomplish all the consultations with the stakeholders.

The work on the Rs 581 billion package had been in progress for the past many weeks, much before the opposition parties decided to bring a no-confidence campaign against Imran Khan.
Consistent with the senior officials of the Planning Ministry, the package has been concluded with input from the Punjab government, the South Punjab Secretariat and it has already been submitted to the Prime Minister last week during his visit to Lahore.
Large-scale discussions on these initiatives had been carried out in the last few months, said Asad Umar.
Furthermore, the disgruntled members of the reigning party mostly belong to the Southern Punjab and central Punjab districts. The government is also trying to bring this category of members back into its fold.
Meanwhile, officials from the Planning Ministry informed that from the total of Rs 581 billion, a major portion of Rs 182 billion will be consumed on 44 projects. The government of Punjab has proposed these schemes which are to be funded by the federal government.
In addition, Rs 52 billion is being spent on 21 new projects that are already accepted in the past many months and are now sponsored out of the federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
Nearly five projects worth Rs 162 billion will be accomplished under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
