Prime Minister Imran Khan observed the formal acceptance of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC) and the federal and Punjab governments to certify up to Rs 1 million annual health insurance for the people of Islamabad and Punjab.
Chief Executive Officer of Punjab Health Initiatives Management Company Ali Razaq, National Health Services Secretary Aamir Ashraf Khwaja, and SLIC Chairman Shoaib Javed Hussain ink down the MoU for the execution of global health coverage of Sehat Sahulat Programme in Punjab and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
Besides, Dr Faisal Sultan-Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health, Dr Yasmin Rashid -Punjab Health Minister and senior officials also attended the event.

On December 13, Prime Minister Khan had a visit to Lahore during which he announced the Sehat Sahulat Programme for all people of Punjab.
Under this social health protection project, the deprived families having the health cards will be given free of cost health insurance to safe indoor healthcare facilities worth Rs 1 million per family annual from hospitals on its board, the statement said.
Moreover, the services under this initiative include insertion of stents, open-heart surgeries, management of cancer, burn management, neurosurgical procures, accident management, intensive care management, dialysis, deliveries, C-section and other surgical/ medical techniques together with a kidney transplant.
Besides, there is a service of inter-provincial/inter-district movability for availing costless services from any empanelled hospital in Pakistan.
After December 31, 2021, the Sehat Sahulat Programme and Qaumi Sehat Card will be progressively extended to all eternal people of Punjab, ICT, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Regarding the program, Dr Sultan added, “Sehat Sahulat is the flagship programme of the government as per the vision and directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan, through which support and assistance are provided against catastrophic healthcare expenditure. This scheme will bring robust improvement in treatment and access to quality healthcare services to the population and will bring about a revolution in the health sector.”
