Punjab Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari presented the Punjab budget for the fiscal year 2022-23 in the Punjab Assembly session held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal.

Its salient features are as follows:
- Rs 685 billion has been allocated including 40 % for the social sector, 24 % for medical infrastructure, 6 % for production sector, and 2 % for the services sector
- Allocation of Rs 35 billion for improvement of road network while Rs 6 billion for improvement of prisons.
- Allocation of Rs 125 billion 34 crores for health facilities to the poor people.
- Allocation of Rs 1.5 billion for provision of laptops to bright and less privileged students.
- Allocation of Rs 240 billion, making 35 percent of the total development budget, for the development of southern Punjab.
- Allocation of Rs 272.60 billion for the social sector and women’s development whereas Rs.7 billion had been allotted for WASA.
- Rs 485.26 billion were being earmarked for Education Sector.
- Rs 5.53 billion has been set aside for the distribution of scholarships to more than 600,000 students.
- Allocation of Rs 1.5 billion for the construction of Daanish schools meanwhile allotting Rs 14 billion 93 for school councils Rs 3 billion 20 crores for the provision of free books.
- Rs 2.5 billion had been allotted to construct new buildings for schools.
- Rs 59.7 billion had been allotted for higher education, restoring the Free wifi project.
- Allocation of Rs 1.5 billion for special education
- Rs 470 billion had been allocated for sector development
- *PKLI would get Rs 5 billion for treatment of coronary, cancer, liver, and kidney diseases along with free medicines
- Rs 1 billion allocated for hospitals in district headquarters for provision of CT scan while Rs2 billion for MRI facility.
- Allocation of Rs 2.5 billion for nursing colleges
- Allocation of Rs 1.40 billion for social protection authority which says senior citizens, special persons, transgender, and widow would be provided Rs.2000 monthly.
- Allocation of Rs 19.40 billion for the livestock sector
- Rs 1.58 billion is allocated for missing facilities in livestock sector in Lahore, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, and Sargodha.
- Allocation of Rs 53.32 billion for the irrigation sector
- Allocation of Rs 2.5 billion for prevention of river erosion
- Rs 23.83 billion would be spent for industrial sector development, allocating Rs 12.53 billion to development.
- Rs 8.25 billion had been set aside for the establishment of Mir Chakar Rind University DG Khan.
- Allocation of Rs 6 billion for prevention of smog, forest fire, air pollution, and other natural disasters to combat the climate changes.
- Allocation of Rs 8.83 billion for the promotion of sports while Rs 7.70 billion would be consumed on development projects.
- Rs 1.27 billion was reserved for women’s development department while Rs 2.5 billion for the protection of minorities.
- Allocation of Rs 528 billion for local government and Rs 60 core dollars would be spent on up-gradation of big cities projects.
- 30 percent increase given to government servants from grade 1 to 19. Minimum wages were raised from Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 for laborers.
