Seven cities of Punjab have been put under smart lockdown till July 24 after they were identified as hotspots.
The Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) issued a notification about the enforcement of the lockdown in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Gujrat under the Punjab Infectious Diseases Ordinance, 2020, till July 24, 2020 midnight.
Seven Punjab cities under Smart lockdown
In Lahore, the lockdown has been imposed in A2 Block Township, Main Bazaar Chungi Amr Sidhu, EME Society, Punjab Government Servants Housing Scheme, C-Block Jauhar Town, Wapda Town, and Green City.
Smart Lockdown in Rawalpindi is in areas of Dhoke Khabba, Range Road Area, Gulistan Colony, Lane No. 4 and PIA Colony. After 52 new positive coronavirus cases were reported from the three areas where 16 cases from Gulistan Colony, 23 cases from Dhoke Khabba and 13 cases from Range Road Lane No 4.
Meanwhile, eight areas that were placed under lockdown earlier – Narankari Bazaar, Bara Market, Khayaban-i-Sir Syed, Gulzar-i-Quaid, Dhoke Ali Akbar, Morgah, Kotha Kalan and Takhtpari – were unsealed after a week.
In Multan, the lockdown is put in SNGPL Residential Colony, Multan Custom Office Colony, Hoor Banaspati Mills, and Kalma Chowk.
In Gujrat, Muslimpura and Staff Gala, Maula Daad Colony and Khursheed Colony, are effectively sealed for a period of 15 days.
In Gujranwala, the lockdown has been imposed in WAPDA Town, People’s Colony X,Y,Z Block.
In Faisalabad, Waris Pura Chowk, Abdullah Garden, D-Type Colony Mandi Quarters, Allama Iqbal Colony, Razaabad and Raza Garden, Eden Garden, Al-Najaf Colony, three blocks of Madina Town, Amnabad, Nisar Colony, Muslim Town B Block, Muslim Town I Block and People’s Colony 1 are put under smart lockdown.
In Sialkot, the smart lockdown has been imposed in Tauseef Market near Fawara Chowk, Pasrur Road, tehsil district Roaras Road, tehsil district Al-Yousuf Plaza, Miano Pura, Shahabpura, tehsil district Qayum Street and tehsil district Muzaffar Pur.
“There shall be a complete ban on the movement of people to and from these areas, except limited movement of one person per vehicle to and from the exempted facilities.” reads the notification from the P&SHD.
“The purpose of the smart lockdown is to minimize movement of people in coronavirus hotspots,” said Capt (r) Muhammad Usman, Secretary P&SHD.
