Tesla shipped a total of 936,172 electric vehicles in 2021, an increase of 87 percent over the 499,550 units delivered in 2020.
Elon Musk’s electric car company produced over 305,000 vehicles and delivered over 308,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter (Q4), up from 241,300 deliveries in the third quarter (Q3).
“We have shipped over 936,000 automobiles in 2021. Thank you to all of our customers, employees, suppliers, stockholders, and supporters who contributed to a successful year for us “ Tesla issued a statement.
The Model S and X received 11,750 deliveries, whereas the Model 3 and Y received 296,850.

The Model 3 and Y also accounted for the majority of deliveries, with 936,172 shipments compared to 24,964 for the Model S and X.
“Wonderful effort by the Tesla team all across the world!” Musk shouted on Twitter.
Last year, Tesla stated that it aimed to increase its deliveries of electric vehicles by around 50%.
In December, the company’s stock rose 7%, bringing its market capitalization back to above $1 trillion.
According to media reports, Musk informed employees in a company-wide call at the end of the third quarter (Q3) that “this is the craziest month of deliveries Tesla will ever have.”
“This will be Tesla’s most hectic delivery week ever,” Musk stated.
Tesla’s service teams had to add parts to vehicles built earlier in the quarter due to production challenges caused by supply chain limitations, according to the CEO.
Meanwhile, the electric vehicle manufacturer has issued a voluntary recall for nearly half a million vehicles due to probable trunk latching system failures.
When the trunk opened and closed, the automobiles had issues with the rearview camera wire harness, and another model had troubles with the front trunk latch.
The recalls cover all Model 3 vehicles sold between 2017 and 2020, as well as some Model S vehicles.
