United, one of Pakistan’s leading motorcycle manufacturers, has announced a hike in the prices of its most popular bikes, following the recent announcements by Atlas Honda and Yamaha. The move comes as a surprise to many, as the company did not increase the prices of its US 100 Scooty, US 150, and electric bikes.
Effective from May 9, the new prices for United bikes will be as follows:
- US 70: from Rs. 106,500 to Rs. 109,500 (an increase of Rs. 3,000)
- US 100: from Rs. 112,000 to Rs. 115,000 (an increase of Rs. 3,000)
- US 125: from Rs. 159,500 to Rs. 164,500 (an increase of Rs. 5,000)
While United did not provide a specific reason for the price hike, recent government data shows that a significant percentage of bike manufacturing in Pakistan has been localized, leaving little justification for frequent and significant price increases.
The series of price hikes in the two-wheeler industry has made brand-new bikes unaffordable for many buyers, prompting calls for the government to intervene. However, there has been no response from the relevant authorities so far.
