The United States of America has indicated that it is ready for direct flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) from Pakistan. This represents a significant development in relations between the US and Pakistan as the Joe Biden administration has assured Pakistan that it is prepared to take the necessary steps to resume direct flights by Pakistan International Airlines to the US.
Salman Sufi, the head of the prime minister’s strategic reforms unit, met with Elizabeth Horst, the deputy assistant secretary of state for the bureau of south and central Asia, at the US Department of State, according to a statement issued by the Pakistani Embassy in Washington.
Sufi claimed that shortly, airport representatives from the FAA will travel to Pakistan to examine the PIA planes that will be operated for US flights.

He claimed that the direct flights from Pakistan to the United States will also help to increase trade between the two nations. Additionally, he noted, the US will designate a trade representative at the Karachi port.
Salman Sufi, the head of the prime minister’s strategic reforms unit, is now in the US where he is engaging with senior US officials in order to improve bilateral ties in a number of different areas.
Salman Sufi pushed for the restart of PIA direct flights from Pakistan to the US during a session with the representatives of the US Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation, and Transportation Security Administration.
In the upcoming six to nine months, it is anticipated that all of the arrangements will be finalized.
Meanwhile, Salman Sufi also emphasized the intention to defending the rights of women, minorities, and marginalized people during a meeting with Kara McDonald, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor of the United States.
