Punjab government wants to get the benefit of the decline in coronavirus cases particularly by speeding up economic activities.
Special cabinet committee meetings for corona control took place on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar where decisions were made.
The recommendations to open businesses, industries, restaurants, marriage halls, cinemas, and theaters were prepared which will be sent to the federal government and National Control and Operational Center for final approval.

The recommendation for opening the gyms and indoor sports and beauty salons etc. will also be finalized if NCOC gives approval. The opening of picnic spots like Murree and others will also be finalized by NCOC. In the meeting to speed up economic activities, it was also decided that all the businesses related to the construction industry will be opened in Punjab under SOPs.
The meeting was briefed that there are 2-3 percent positive coronavirus cases in the province. However, 3000 beds have been reserved for coronavirus patients, hospitals will be opened for general patients after the hospital will be declared corona free. Regular activities like general treatment of patients, operations, and other patient’s related activities will start.
Provincial Ministers Dr. Yasmeen Rashid, Aslam Iqbal, Hashim Jama Bakht, Chief Secretary, senior member board of revenue, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Secretary Specialized Healthcare, Secretary Primary and Secondary Health, Secretary Information, Deputy Commissioner Lahore, Director General Food Authority and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
Information Minister Punjab Fayyaz Chohan gave the briefing in detail about the decision of the cabinet committee for controlling the virus spread. He said that recommendations have been prepared to open the economic activities under SOPs in Punjab. The government of Punjab will seek the permission of the federal government to open marriage halls, restaurants, business centers, picnic spots, sports clubs, parks, cinema halls, and theaters.
