In 1955, the Pakistani government created IBA as a business school with technical assistance from the Wharton School and the University of Southern California. The IBA’s curriculum was developed with the help of several well-known American professors. It remained a constituent institution of the University of Karachi till the Sindh Government upgraded it to an independent chartered university in 1994. IBA has grown from a graduate business school to an interdisciplinary university with undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate programmes since 2003.
IBA is presently one of Pakistan’s most prestigious and well-known institutes, particularly for its business curriculum. It is one of just two Pakistani business schools to receive the prestigious South Asian Quality System certification.
